This was a continuous message for me throughout Camino training. There was even a visual reminder for me along the path in Spain.
What was happening as I was walking, training, and preparing locally for my approaching Camino de Santiago trip? An unexpected epiphany, that’s what. My preparation BECAME the very Camino for me. An integral part of the whole. Rather than focusing solely ahead on the Camino that I would walk in Spain during the month of May, I was awakening to the present and the journey I was currently taking; right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot. I was gaining strength of mind, body, soul, and began to more fully recognize myself as a pilgrim in the now.
The only thing that is ultimately real about your journey is the step you are taking at this moment. That’s all there ever is. –Eckhart Tolle
