Three times along the Camino de Santiago, I absentmindedly began to take a wrong turn off the path, and thankfully, each time there were angels around to help me course correct.
On day two, a woman was sweeping her doorstep, watching me veer to the left when I should have been taking the road to the right.
“Señora, de esta manera,” she called out.
I looked back to see the woman calling out and guiding me to the right with a swing of her arm.
“Ah, muchas gracias!”
The kind help from strangers is a common experience and a classic mark of the Camino de Santiago.
As was the reminder to me of how much I need others along the journey.
